6 things you must know about Arsenal’s new signing Alexandre Lacazette

Arsenal Football Club have completed the signing of French striker Alexandre Lacazette from FC Lyon for a club record fee. The France international becomes the Gunners second signing of the summer after making the move to the Emirates. The deal for the French forward is reportedly worth around £52 million as the 26-year-old will be earning £150,000 on a weekly basis at Arsenal.

1. Born into a footballing family:

Although Lacazette’s father might not be a footballer, the French striker has an elder brother who played football and his cousin currently plays the game professionally. While his brother played in the Swiss second division and French fourth division, his cousin Romuald Lacazette currently plays for German second division team 1860 Munich.

2. Ruthless finisher:

Alexandre Lacazette is one of the ruthless finishers in Europe at the moment. He has scored 113 goals in 183 matches in all competitions at club level.

3. Lack of senior international experience:

Despite being a ruthless striker for his club side, the former Lyon forward has only made 11 appearances for France national team since making his debut in 2013 scoring just one goal for the French side.

4. Top French marksman:

Although Lacazette might be lacking senior international experience, The goal-poacher is force to reckon with when it comes to club football. We gathered that the 26-year-old is the first player since the legendary Jean-Pierre Papin in 1991 to score 28 goals in a calendar year. He achieved that feat in 2016.

5. UEFA Under-19 Champion:

Lacazette is one of the few footballers to represent France at every age level. The former Lyon man scored the winning goal for France against Spain in the 2010 UEFA Under-19 Championship final to help them win the title.
