The explosion occurred as civil servants resume work for the week.
We cannot ascertain casualty figure and extent of destruction at this time. But a source said about 10 dead bodies have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo.

The source said, "I can confirm to you that 10 people have been confirmed dead."

Another source, who was in Jalingo to execute a contract for a ministry said, "I came to network a ministry here. I was with the programme manager when the explosion occured.

"The ministry has lots of casualties."

Police spokesperson, Ibiang Mbasike, confirmed the incident but did not give any casualty figure.

There are reports that the state commissioner of police was targeted  but that could not be independently confirmed.

Meanwhile, the Police in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, have found an unexploded bomb in a car parked near a magistrate court by the police roundabout in the town. Operatives have cordoned off the area.
