Before he ever became a
governor in Nigeria, James Ibori had been arrested in the early 90s in London
where he was working as a cashier at Wickes hardware store. He was fired for
allowing his wife to take out products worth £200 without paying. Ibori was
also arrested the following year for using a stolen credit card. It was after
he moved back to Nigeria that the former governor of Delta State was able to
rob millions from Nigerians. Today he was sentenced to 13 years in prison at a
London court for money laundering and corruption charges.
