Jonathan, Northern governors condole Buhari over daughter’s death

President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has commiserated with the former Head of States, General Buhari (rtd.) over the sudden death of his first daughter, Zulaihatu.

Jonathan in a condolence letter to the Buhari family prayed that God Almighty would comfort him, and grant him and members of his family the fortitude to bear the great loss.

The letter reads: “I write to extend very sincere commiserations to you and your family on the death of your eldest daughter, Zulaihatu yesterday November 29th, 2012.

“I can well imagine the profound pain, sadness and sorrow brought upon you by the tragic loss of a beloved child whom you have nurtured and raised to adulthood.

My heart goes out to you as you mourn Zulaihatu. I pray that God Almighty comforts you and grants you and your family succour at this very traumatic time for all who knew and loved her.”

Also, the Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) has paid a condolence visit to the former Head of States and presidential candidate and national leader of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).

The leader of the forum and Governor of Niger State, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Danladi Ndayebo, urged the retired General to take heart.

He noted that it is only God that gives and takes life whenever He pleases.

NSGF also urged Buhari and members of his family to bear the irreparable loss, stressing that although his late daughter passed on too soon, she lived an emulating and a fulfilled life.

“Though Zulaihat lived a short life, she brought change to her immediate family, her community, and all those she met, especially women and children,” the statement said.

Since death is inevitable, the forum prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and the family the big heart to bear the loss.

Zulaihatu died on Thursday night at Nasara hospital in Kaduna, during child birth.

She was buried at 11 p.m on Thursday according to Islamic rights, since she died around 3.30 p.m same day.
