Oshiomhole’s Aide, Assassinated By Edo Govt Insider, Says PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the late Principal Private Secretary to Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Olaitan Oyerinde, was most likely murdered by an insider in the Edo state government.

This was contained in a statement released by the party’s publicity secretary Olisa Metuh in Abuja on Wednesday.

“The PDP has absolutely nothing to gain from the murder of Mr. Oyerinde,” Mr. Metuh said.

He condemned the governor for accusing some PDP leaders in Edo state for the assassination of his late aide.

Governor Oshiomhole had earlier alleged that ‘a PDP member in his 80s’ masterminded the assassination of the late Mr. Oyerinde.

Mr. Metuh in his statement, asked the governor to refrain from the allegation.

He asked Mr. Oshiomhole “to look beyond his obsession with wild accusations against his opponents and also consider the possibility of culprits within his set up”.

“Our pedigree as a performing political Party places us in good stead to succeed in any electoral contest in Nigeria. We therefore do not need to kill in order to succeed,” he added.

Mr. Metuh condemned the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) for politicizing the death of Mr. Oyerinde. He said that it was more probable that an ACN member murdered Mr. Oyerinde because it had more to benefit from the scandal.

“The PDP has absolutely nothing to gain from the murder of Mr. Oyerinde and it is only the ACN that stands to gain massive sympathy and public sentiments in this regard. Let us emphasize here that motive is always a factor in murder cases,” he said.
