A suicide bomber blew himself up outside a Catholic church in the Jos. Eyewitnesses said that St. Finbars Catholic Church in the Rayfield area of the Plateau State capital was the target.
However, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), officials who confirmed the bomb blast said there were ‘numerous casualties’.
"NEMA officials are on the scene of a suspected suicide explosion at Finber's Catholic Church, Rayfield, Jos. They are about to evacuate victims to hospital," NEMA spokesman, Yushau Shuaib told Reuters.
This is the second time in recent weeks that a church has been targeted in Jos.
One witness said he and his family heard a huge explosion in the area as they made their way home from another church.

This is the second time in recent weeks that a church has been targeted in Jos.
On the 26th of February a bomb targeted the headquarters of the Church of Christ in Nigeria destroying a number of cars and killing the bomber in the process.
The Boko Haram, a radical Islamic group operating in northern Nigeria has claimed responsibility for several deadly bomb blasts in country.
