Buhari to earn N14 million as annual salary, allowances

Nigeria’s new president, Muhammadu Buhari, and his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo, will earn annual basic salaries of N3, 514, 705 and N3, 031, 572.50 respectively, according to the information on the website of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

The RMAFC is statutorily empowered by Section 32 (d) of Part 1 of the Third Schedule of the Constitution to determine the remuneration appropriate for political office holders.

The Borno State Police command has confirmed that 26 people were killed in Saturday’s suicide bomb in a mosque in Maiduguri.

A witness had told Governor Kashim Shettima that 16 people died in the blast.

But Aderemi Opadokun, the Borno Commissioner of Police, said there were more casualties.

Incredible photographs reveal the newborn has two bodies joined at the chest with two sets of front legs, two sets of back legs - and complete with two tails.

The black and white puppy was born with a total of eight limbs in Vaini of Tonga in the Pacific Ocean on Wednesday and was one of her five siblings to have any abnormalities.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday attributed his successful political career to the efforts of former governor of Bayelsa, Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha.

Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has now been sworn-in as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

President Buhari who took the oath of office administered by the Chief Justice of the Federation, Mahmud Mohammed on Friday was officially sworn in by 10:51am at the Eagle Square, venue of the inauguration ceremony.

President Buhari defeated former President, Goodluck Jonathan in Nigeria’s national election adjudged globally to be free and fair.

It would have been too disastrous if Jonathan was re-elected – ex-Governor

Gunmen who kidnapped Patience Egbeni and Kate Eni, cousins to President Goodluck Jonathan, have allegedly demanded N50 million ransom for their release.

The two women were kidnapped on May 20 at Akipelai, in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

According to reports, the gunmen contacted their families five days after their abduction demanding the N50 million ransom to set them free.

Okonjo-Iweala responds to Oshiomhole, says article full of gaping holes

The Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has reacted to a publication by the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole where he called on the outgoing Finance Minister to give proper account of how the economy was managed under her watch before leaving office.

Oshiomhole in the article titled, “Economy: Okonjo-Iweala’s hidden figures,” alleged that the minister mismanaged the economy and abused financial regulations. One Ajayi Olatunbosun has been arrested by the police for allegedly hiring thugs to pour acid on his ex-wife, Bamidele Otakiti, in her shop on Adejobi Street in the Ajasa Command area of Lagos.
PUNCH Metro gathered that all had been well between the couple since they moved to Lagos in 2005 until a few months ago when a disagreement soured their relationship.The quarrel was said to have led to their separation in February, 2015.
