The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed that the former chairman of Ingawa local government area of the state, late Samaila Magaji, was murdered by his estranged homosexual partner, 17-year-old Abba Lawal, a native of Daura.
Magaji, it will be recalled, was gruesomely murdered in his residence at the Barhim Quarters, Katsina, recently. However, the police moved swiftly, arresting the suspect who was said to be with the deceased at the time of the murder.
Addressing the press yesterday, the state commissioner of police Muhammad Hurdi said the suspect had confessed to killing Magaji, whom he said was his “boyfriend”.
Hurdi said that the suspect confessed to the police that he killed Magaji, because he had made a lot of promises to him [Lawal] which he had failed to redeem.
Hurdi also revealed that the suspect confirmed to police that after he was dismissed from school, due to his indulgence in homosexuality, Magaji had promised to get him back to school but never did.
The suspect, Hurdi revealed, was the late council boss’ boyfriend who had visited him severally in Kano and other places to carry out their affair discreetly, before Lawal was allegedly invited to the house of the deceased on the ill-fated day.
“We recovered knives and blood-stained clothes at the scene of the incident. Upon sighting the knife, the suspect fainted and after recovering, he made all these confessions,” Hurdi added.
