A middle aged man on Tuesday jumped from the eighth floor of the Federal Secretariat building in Port Harcourt, landed on the concrete floor below, crashed his head and died immediately.
It is not clear if the man worked at the complex or came there solely for the purpose of committing suicide.
Workers and other visitors to the Federal Secretariat were shocked Tuesday and could only imagine why the man decided suicide was his best bet.
The police arrived at the secretariat building and announced they have commenced investigation.
Port Harcourt has recently been in the news for horrid reasons. Last Friday, four students of the University of Port-Harcourt were beaten and burnt to death by residents of Aluu, a community close to the institution.
The matter is also being investigated by the police who have made some arrests.
