Edo Governorship: ACN's Oshiomhole Wins Oredo LGA

The Independent National Electoral Commission has confirmed that Governor Adams Oshiomhole of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has carried the Oredo Local Government Area, one of three LGAs that make up the Benin City metropolis.

INEC announced that Mr. Oshiomhole won all the twelve wards, polling 66,522 votes. His main rival, Major General Charles Airhiavbere (ret.) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came a distant second with 9081 votes. The candidate of the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) emerged third with 454 votes while the Labor Party scored 49 to clinch the fourth position.

A source who works for the State Security Service (SSS) told SaharaReporters that Mr. Oshiomhole was assured of victory. “The governor’s margin of victory is so wide that there can be no magic to give the election to the PDP,” he said.

The collation of elections results of all the18 local governments is taking place at the Edo state offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Benin.
