Police foil massive bomb attack in Kano, seize bombs, rifles, others… occupants escape

The Police in Kano State said it has intercepted a Golf 3 car with arms and ammunition at Inusawa village in Ungogo Local Government Area.

The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Musa Daura, told journalists in Kano on Wednesday that the car with registration number, AG 701 KTN, was intercepted on Tuesday around 9.30 p.m. following a tip-off.

“The occupants of the vehicle on sighting the police patrol vehicle opened fire and immediately our men responded with superior power.

“This made the occupants to abandon their vehicle and escape into the bush with bullet wounds,” he said.

The commissioner said after careful search on the vehicle, some items were recovered, including one AK-47 rifle, one assault rifle and 238 live ammunition of different calibres.

Others were one rocket launcher, eight Ak-47 magazines, seven Turkey oil remote control bomb and two cylinders remote control devices.

The rest were 14 hand grenades, four rolls of wire connector and 12 power sources.

Mr. Daura said the police had since sealed-off the whole area with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects.

He urged members of the public to continue to support the command and other security agencies to restore peace and tranquility in the state.
