Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has warned that any teacher who is absent from duty will have his or her salary slashed by 50 percent and perpetual late comers to forfeit two weeks salary just asstudents of Imaguero College trooped out in their numbers to accord the governor who was on an inspection visit to the school to assess the on-going reconstruction and the attendance of teachers, a befitting welcome.
Speaking to the students and teachers at the Imaguero College hall, Oshiomhole said, the smartest thing to do to ensure tomorrow is to invest in the future of the children today.
“I am here in line with our policy to inspect the on-going reconstruction of this beautiful college. I was here last year and I was shocked by what I saw.
I did promise that we would rebuild Edo state and central to rebuilding the state is rebuilding our schools and give our children the best environment to learn.”
Expressing satisfaction at the quality of the renovation, Oshiomhole said, “this is easily one of the most beautiful hall anywhere in Edo State. I am happy with what I have seen today.”
“As you can notice, we are still constructing. When we finish, the school would be one of the most beautiful in Africa. I believe you deserve it because you represent the face of the future and Edo state government is determined to invest in our future by investing in your education,” he said.
While urging the students to take their studies seriously, the governor remarked that, “the only promise I want you to make is that you will take full advantage of our investment by ensuring that you come to school promptly, take your studies seriously, and obey all rules and regulations of the school.”
“I assure you that you will have the best of facilities and I urge you to imbibe the spirit of maintenance culture,” the governor noted.
Addressing the teachers and principal, Oshiomhole said, “you must come to school on time, properly guide the children and treat them exactly the same way as you treat your children.
The governor who expressed displeasure at the attitude to work of some of the teachers said , “ it is clear that some people do not deserve the jobs”.
