“Sanusi is not God, he cannot call for CAN to be scrapped” – Oyedepo blasts CBN Governor

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, has come under fire again for calling for the scrapping of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

A pastor with the Living Faith Church otherwise known as Winners’ Chapel, Pastor Gideon Oyedepo has said that the CBN boss had no right to call for the scrapping of the Christian body in the country

The cleric affirmed that Sanusi had no right to call for the scrapping of the Christian body in the country.

Oyedepo, who pastors the Abuja branch of the ministry said this Sunday during the thanksgiving service to mark the second year anniversary of the branch.

Condemning the apex bank governor over his statement, Oyedepo said: “Sanusi is not God. He can’t call for the scrapping of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).”

“Nobody can scrap CAN. The government is an institution established by God, therefore, they can’t scatter God’s agenda for Nigeria. CAN is a forum where Christians meet to deliberate on how the work of God must move forward. So, I can’t see an ordinary man asking for the scrapping of the body of Christ. CAN will get back on its feet.

There’s no way humans don’t have disagreement,” he added. The second year anniversary of the branch which coincided with the end of the 21 days fasting of the church worldwide was used as an avenue by the pastor and members to pray for peace in Nigeria. The Fasting and Prayer event, which started on January 7, 2013, according to the founding Bishop of the church, David Oyedepo was a divine instruction from God.

The Pastor, while charging his members to always fast and pray, he noted that prayer bring unlimited favour, breakthroughs, protection from God against evil people, among others.

“Fasting and praying secure your posterity in life,” he concluded. “Fasting and prayer is designed for your profiting,” the clergy declared. “Fasting is a spiritual exercise that is profitable to your soul. It’s not a sign of punishment,” he added.
