Oprah Winfrey Hints at Potential President Run in 2020

The former daytime talk show queen retweets a New York Post Op-Ed column titled 'Democrats' best hope for 2020: Oprah.'

Does Oprah Winfrey plan to run for president in 2020? The talk show host, who told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year that she "will never run for public office," seems to hint otherwise with her recent tweet.
The 63-year-old actress/producer/media proprietor got fans hope soaring when she retweeted a New York Post Op-Ed column titled "Democrats' best hope for 2020: Oprah." She wrote along with it, "@jpodhoretz Thanks for your VOTE of confidence!"

People soon showed their support for Oprah. "If she can win, let her run. We need a Democrat who can win. Full stop," one wrote.

If she can win, let her run. We need a Democrat who can win. Full stop.
Another commented, "You have my vote, and every moment of my time to help. Run @Oprah."

"Oprah you know that you have my vote and I will work hard to make you the First Woman President of the USA!!! What do you think?" another similarly posted.

One other Twitter user wrote, "Desperate times. We might need her. She is wise and genuinely cares. And is charismatic as hell."

In his column, Podhoretz praised Winfrey's debut on CBS' "60 Minutes", which saw her interviewing 14 voters in Michigan, half of whom voted for President Donald Trump in the 2016 election, about their thoughts on the U.S. leader now. He was impressed by her skills, how she was "listening, asking, speaking without judgment, trying to find common ground."

He said Winfrey is "uniquely positioned, should she wish to commit herself, to seek the Democratic nomination for president and challenge Trump in 2020." He also wrote, "If you need to set a thief to catch a thief, you need a star-a grand, outsized, fearless star whom Trump can neither intimidate nor outshine-to catch a star. We're through the looking glass here. America is discarding old approaches in politics. Democrats will have to do the same to match the mood to the moment."
