Saraki, Ekweremadu get senate ‘confidence vote’
The senate on Tuesday passed a vote of confidence on its leadership, amid ongoing crisis over allegations that rules were forged to elect the senate president and his deputy. In a motion signed by 81 senators and moved by Nnaemeka Anyanwu (Imo East), the senate reaffirmed its endorsement of Bukola Saraki as senate president and Ike Ekweremadu as deputy senate president as well as the principal officers. The principal officers are Ali Ndume (majority leader), Bala Na’Allah (deputy leader), Olusola Adeyeye (chief whip) and Francis Alimikhena (deputy chief whip). Far too soon. Bobbi Kristina Brown died on Sunday, July 26, at the age of 22.
The daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston spent months hospitalized in Georgia after she was found unresponsive in her home on Jan. 31. After various methods of treatment, Bobbi was moved into hospice care last month and passed away with her family by her side this weekend.
"She is finally at peace in the arms of God," the Houston family told Us Weekly in a statement. "We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months."

Nigeria's president plans to split state oil company into two entities
ABUJA (Reuters) - Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari plans to split the state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) into two entities, his spokesman said on Saturday.
Buhari, elected in March on promises to combat corruption, has made clear he wants to overhaul the oil sector in Africa's biggest economy, which provides the government with around 70 percent of its revenue.
He has said his government will trace and recover what he called "mind-boggling" sums of money stolen from the oil sector.

The incident took place at about 9:30am Sunday when the market was about to reach its peak.
The market usually attracts many buyers and sellers as it is the only main market in the town.
Unconfirmed report indicated that the explosion was caused by a suspected female suicide bomber who was between the ages of 19 or 20.

Militants Blow UP NPDC Oil Pipeline Over Surveillance Contract Dispute
An unidentified militant group in Delta State today blew up pipelines belonging to the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) at Ighwrenene town in Ughelli North local government area. The blown up pipeline caused a severe explosion in the area.
A few residents of the area told SaharaReporters that the militant group blew up the pipelines to protest the Federal Government’s continued refusal to hire its members to provide surveillance services over all the pipelines in the area.

President Muhammadu Buhari will not extend his corruption probe beyond the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, the presidency has said.

Bobbi Kristina Brown: White Tent Put Up At Her Hospice Sparks Concern
There have been concerns about Bobbi Kristina Brown after a white tent was put up outside the Peachtree Christian Hospice where she currently is.
Fans feared that the 22-year-old has passed away when the white tent was erected at 5pm (local time) on Wednesday.
However, while receptionists at the hospice declined to comment on Bobbi Kristina’s condition, they did tell RadarOnline that ‘there had been no’ deaths that day.
Major Don Woodruff from Duluth Police commented that the local police had not been informed of any “major occurences” at the hospice.

Residents of Maiduguri, Borno state, have criticised the arrest of the taxi driver, Rabiu Usman, popularly known as Billejo, Daily Post reports.
They claim that Usman reported to the military his suspicions about one of his passengers who later turned out to be a suicide bomber. However, he was then unjustly arrested as an accomplice of the terrorist group.
