Oyerinde’s murder: We’re confused –FG

The Federal Government said yesterday that it was confused on how to go about the investigation of the murder of the private Principal Secretary to Edo State governor Mr Olaitan Oyerinde, even as the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) said it has not been able to prosecute anybody. Oyerinde was killed on May 4, 2012 by unknown gunmen in his bedroom in Benin, Edo State capital.

Presently, two sets of suspects have been detained over the murder. One set of suspected robbers were arrested by the Department of State Security (DSS) as being responsible for the killing, while the police also have another set whom they are claiming, are the brains behind the murder. Both sets of suspects are currently in police detention waiting on the office of the AGF to take a decision on which set to face the law.

An autopsy carried out at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital on Goldie has revealed that she died of hypertension. The autopsy was conducted on February 19th and signed by Dr. O. Nollywood actor Lugard Onoyemu slumps and dies at National Stadium, Lagos

Tragedy hit Nollywood on Thursday evening, after former Secretary of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Lugard Onoyemu, slumped and died at the National Stadium in Surulere.


The sad news was confirmed by Emeka Rising, whom he once served under in the AGN.

Sources say Onoyemu was hale and hearty, but at about 5.30pm, he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, where he passed on.

SAD: How A Youth Corper Died Trying To Save A Ball

Faith Nzube Enemuo Batch “C” member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has been reported to have drowned in a river in Ikom Local Council where she is currently serving.

She is a graduate of Social Studies from the University of Abuja. She came along with her co-corpers to play handball at the bank of the river. But, a few minutes into the game, she went missing.

There were about 10 of them, who came to play handball on the dry land near the Ikom River. One of them suggested that they should move closer to the river, but the suggestion was opposed by other Corps members. The ball fell into the river, an eyewitness said, and the late Faith offered to fetch the ball, which was moving faster away from the shoreline.

I hope this epistle finds you well wherever you are. Fellow Zimbos, have you heard the news from Harare? It’s so sad, and indeed, saddening. Robert Mugabe, Prime Minister from 1980 to 1987 and President since then to 2013 wants an eighth term in office!

In 1980, he was at his prime, a mature 56 years and now in the sunset of his life at 89, he wants to continue reigning! Not that l am begrudging the near nonagenarian his rule but take it this way brethren, this man has been at the helm of the nation for too long! It is very clear that this June we are going to hold our long-awaited and long-overdue Plebiscite and l, together with others, will be voting. Robert Mugabe, along with others, will be asking for your vote and mine. But we need not judge him harshly but interrogate the question whether he really deserves another term or not.

PDP behind suicide bombings in Nigeria – Ribadu

Former presidential flag bearer of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should be held responsible for incessant suicide bombings in the country.

Ribadu also blamed the ruling party for the high rate of insecurity and corruption currently rocking the nation.

According to him: “The PDP has ruled Nigeriasince 1999 and the only things it brought to us are insecurity, suicide bombings and corruption at the highest level.”
