Saudi Siamese twins in 10-hour miracle operation

Saudi doctors will spend at least 10 hours on Friday to separate Siamese twins Abdullah and Salman in an eight-stage operation at the Gulf Kingdom’s most prestigious hospital, newspapers said on Tuesday.

The twin boys, named after the country’s King Abdullah and his brother, Crown Prince Salman, were born to a Saudi mother in a Cesarean operation in the southern town of Bisha nearly three months ago, they said.

The twins had been flown to King Abdul Aziz medical city in the capital Riyadh for the operation in line with instruction by King Abdullah, the papers said.

“The operation will be performed on Friday…it will take at least 10 hours and will be done in eight phases,” Saudi health minister Abdullah Al Rabeeah said, quoted by the Arabic language daily Sabq.
