Alhaji Razaq Gawat Is Still Missing : No clue to TV presenter’s whereabouts – Police

6 months after the disappearance of popular TV presenter, Alhaji Razaq Gawat, the Lagos State Police Command has said there is no clue yet leading to his whereabouts, but added that they had not reached a dead end as investigation was still ongoing.

Disclosing this on Monday, the State Police command spokesperson, Ngozi Braide said, “What we did was to see whether the fingerprints found on his car would match those of the arrested suspects but none matched.

“All the suspects arrested were picked on circumstances and they have all been released when there was nothing linking them with the incident.

“No clue was left on the man’s vehicle. The vehicle was carefully parked off the road and there was no sign of struggle in it. With this, we cannot say he was
abducted. We are still treating the case as that of a missing person.”

She however affirmed that the fingerprints analysis were done in the Police Force Forensic Laboratory,Lagos

Commenting further, another police officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, “Police have not given up. Before we can think about that, it will take at least seven years.

“But even after that, if there is an important lead, the police will follow it to see if the lead could unravel the mystery.”

He added that all the leads the police force had worked on were not viable enough for the force to rely on.

He said, “You remember that Governor Babatunde Fashola promised a certain amount of money as a reward for whoever provides information on the missing man and of course, some people came with different information. But we discovered they are merely speculations that did not lead to anything.”

Alhaji Razaq Gawat anchors an Islamic TV programme during Ramadan, E didè e ji sari, a broadcast programme on Nigerian Television Authority Channel 10.

It would be recalled that his black-coloured 4RUNNER Toyota SUV with registration number RE 77 AAA was found at 11:45 p.m on July 10 around the Apongbon-end of Eko Bridge, while he was nowhere on sight, and since then he has been declared missing.
