Abeokuta gets first flyover bridge
The first flyover bridge in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, was on Thursday commissioned by the state governor, Mr Ibikunle Amosun.
This will be the first bridge to be constructed in the entire state since its creation in 1976.
The four-lane overhead bridge begins at the end of Lalubu road and opens into the newly expanded lane Ibara-Totoro road.

As counsel to Charles Okah and others who are facing the same set of charges under Nigerian Laws, I have been actively involved in coordinating the trials both in South Africa and in Nigeria.

PHOTOS: Buried Baby Miraculously Found Alive
The baby(pictured) buried alive was luckily rescued and reportedly found alive.
The details are still sketchy as at press time but it was gathered that the baby boy was buried by yet to be identified person(s) but as fate would have it, some members of the community found him, alive!
Unconfirmed report says the incident happened in Lagos.

Emir of Kano flown to London after assassination attempt
The Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, has been flown to London, barely 24 hours after an assassination attempt on his life.
The monarch was returning to his Palace, after being a guest at a Quranic recitation competition, when his convoy was attacked by unknown assailants.
Eyewitnesses at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, confirmed that the Emir travelled on a private jet at about 1.30pm with his son, the Ciroman Kano, Sanusi Ado Bayero, who took a bullet in the attack. Some of his guards who were also hit by bullets were on the flight.
The sources confirmed that the Emir looked in good shape, showing no side of injury.
The Police in Kano, are however looking beyond islamist sect, Boko Haram and reports say some of the possible successors to the Kano Emir are currently being investigated.
PHOTOS: 50 mystery bodies float on Anambra river (Viewer's discretion advised)
No fewer than 50 unidentified and bloated corpses have been discovered floating on Ezu River in Amansea community, near Awka; a boundary area between Enugu and Anambra states, both in eastern Nigeria.
The corpses were reportedly found at about 8 a.m. on Saturday, when villagers went to the river to fetch water for their domestic chores.
The people counted up to 50 bodies and alerted their traditional ruler who mobilized his cabinet for an emergency meeting after which the state government and the state police command were contacted.

I write in very strong terms to condemn a mob action by the people of Umuka, in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State yesterday, Monday, January 14, 2013, against the three men in the attached photographs.
Our organization have reliably confirmed and authenticated the incident and of the identity of one of the men in the picture, and are calling on security agents to quickly respond to the plight of these men. As it is, only the perpetrators and the community can tell the whole world what has become of these men who were seriously beaten up, stripped naked and paraded around the community bounded together like animals on allegation that they were caught having sex together.
