Governor Yakowa’ s Convoy Kills Poor Orange Seller In Kaduna


A roadside orange seller was killed on Thursday by a high-speed convoy belonging to Kaduna State governor, Patrick Yakowa, the victim of a car carrying one of his commissioners.

And despite efforts to kill the story in the Nigerian media, an angry Kaduna resident who called SaharaReporters confirmed that the governor’s convoy not only killed the orange seller in a high-speed race in Kaduna town, but that the governor did not stop upon learning that his commissioner’s car was involved in the accident.

Appeals for leniency failed to move a Texas judge who delivered a harsh sentence of 80 years behind bars for Nigerian-American Jessica Tata, convicted in the death of a child killed in a fire at her home day care in Houston, Texas.

Eight witnesses testified for Tata in the punishment phase of the trial on Friday. Twenty two witnesses testified for the prosecution, alleging that she ran an unclean facility where dirty diapers and vomit were strewn on the floor. The deceased child, 16-month-old Elias Castillo, succumbed to a fire ignited when Tata went shopping and left a pan of oil cooking on the stove.

JTF offers N290 million reward for information leading to capture of Boko Haram leaders

Arsenal agree new £150 million deal with Emirates


Arsenal today announced that they have agreed a new five-year deal with international airline, Emirates, worth £150 million. The contract which is worth £30 million a year, will include shirt sponsorship until the end of the 2018/2019 season, as well as stadium naming rights until 2019.

The Presidency on Wednesday asked the Senate to increase the N1, 305, 292, 050 set aside in the 2013 budget for refreshment and meals and other miscellaneous expenses in the State House.

A breakdown of the Miscellaneous sub-head in the Presidential Villa’s budget shows that N203,752,432 was allocated for refreshment and meals; N107,412,768 would be spent on honorarium and sitting allowance while N37, 277,825 will be for publicity and advertisement.

Three crushed to death after container falls off truck in Lagos


Tragedy occurred on Wednesday when a truck with registration number XT 339 AKD carrying a 40 foot container slipped and collapsed on a mazda car with registration number UK 641 KJA killing three out of the four occupants of the car on the Badagry-Seme Expressway, around 1.15pm.

DailyPost gathered that passers-by swung into action almost immediately the accident occurred to rescued the trapped persons, before officials of Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, came to the scene of the accident.

Major dealer arrested with 584kg of cannabis in Lagos


A suspected major cannabis dealer in Lagos has been apprehended by officers of the Lagos State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The arrest was made during raids on selected volatile areas used as hideouts by drug trafficking gangs in the State. Dried weeds suspected to be cannabis weighing 584kg was seized from the drug gangs at Olosha, Mushin where the suspect, Dada Etop Ejalonibu, 38 years old was apprehended. The suspect is currently being interrogated by narcotic investigators attached to the Lagos command.

Boko Haram kill 11 people in Maiduguri


Gunmen suspected to be members of Islamist Boko Haram have killed 7 persons in Lawan Bukar ward of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

Resident of the area said that, the gunmen attacked the ward between 7:45 am and 9:00 am Thursday following allegations that the residents earlier arrested 2 members of the sect, which they handed over to the Joint Task Force- Operation Restore Order, during one of the Boko Haram deadly attacks in the area.

FIFA turns down Drogba’s request to move to Europe

UAE National Day holidays: Public sector to remain closed on December 2 & 3


The Federal ministries and entities will be off work on Sunday and Monday; December 2 and 3, to mark the 41st National Day, according to a circular issued today by Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qattami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Government Human Resources Authority.

The circular, which based on law no. 11 of 2008 on government human resources, said work will resume on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.
